| How would you sell a product to a prospect if you do not have the product in inv I sell a very necessary product to current and prospective bowling centers. This is still peak season for us but due to circumstances beyond the salespersons scope we do not have enough product in inventory to provide our clients until at least mid April. The boss wants us to sell sell sell. How would you approach this to a prospective new client? Would you even call them to see if they needed shoes just to say "Oh sorry out of this that would you mind waiting a month?" If you were the prospective customer would you be angry we called to get your business and not be able to deliver until mid April? Can anyone give me some advice on this other than the boss saying sell sell sell our product is hot, we can't keep them on the shelves. That is not the only reason they are not on the shelf... Sorry I forgot to add we sell our products over the phone, not to much face to face sales. |

I would be angry if someone called me to sell me anything... something out of stock is even worse. Tell your boss he is "an idiot". |
| You know, it is not easy to sell products over the phone especially when the customer is not really interested with that stuff. Be careful in encountering angry customers over the phone. And as a customer service just maintain professionalism all throughout the call especially your courtesy despite the irate customer. In this kind of situation, you'd better employ a better strategy for selling products. Suggest it to your boss. |
| It is really all about presentation. If you present this misfortune in a positive light, then many of your clients will not mind. Just be sure to present yourself in a way that say that you are helping them as much as they are helping you, by providing with your product (they can't be convinced unless you are sold on it yourself). This is something many salespeople miss. Hope it helps! |
| It is so hard to actually sell products to any prospect, client, or customer. And so I salute those good agents who did their very best to persuade possible clients. For it was never that easy. And most of the time, customers tend to be too angry for some reasons. Even the most craziest reason would make customers really irritated at you and would talk bad to you. Better have that will and spirit if you want to be inclined in such works. |
