Questions: Any tips for dealing with irate customers?

Thank author of this post/commentI recently applied for and accepted a position for a bank call center. Most of the time, I really like my job, but I find it difficult dealing with extremely angry callers who sometimes can't accept "No" for an answer. Some people call in on their family's accounts wanting information, but, since they're not listed on that account, we are not authorized to share any information. Half the time they scream for a supervisor when she's gone home for the evening. Aside from letting them vent and trying to understand the situation, how do you fellow CSRs handle those calls? I need advice, and I don't feel like I was adequately trained to handle these situations.
