How do you tell a customer he is wrong when he is angry too?Is it the American culture to be angry just to get something for free? Whether you are entitled to it or not? |
| I understand how hard it is to handle angry customers. But in situation like this we have to maintain our professionalism toward the angry customers. We should still assist them and understand their sentiment. At your end, you may be right then explain well the situation. Actually, it also varies. It depends on the personality of each individual so you have to be broad minded toward customer like them. |
| That is why I always thought of suggesting to call center owners to have their employees attend a seminar. A seminar on basic psychology that is, on how to deal with angry and whining customers. You cannot tell about the reaction of the agents because they are also human. So I strongly recommend a Psychological exam also. The agents must be psychologically fit to join the workforce in answering to angry people. |
| Dealing an angry customer is daily routine of a call center agent like me. But sometimes it’s so irritating to debate with angry customers. The best thing to do is, let them talk for a while, listen and be professional and firm to discuss or explain the procedure that they need to follow. For sure it's just misunderstanding. Admit it, call center agents are well compensated but part of the job is to listen pissed off customers. |
| It is never that easy to work in a call center and to deal with terribly angry customers. I have a friend who got really affected of what an abusive customer kept on telling her upon his call. Well, the poor friend of mine finds it hard to drop or hand the phone even if she wants too because her job requires her to listen to customers and address their issues and concerns. |
