When a person gets a call from an angry customer, the best approach would be for a person to simply try to understand what it is would satisfy the customer, rather than try to calm the customer down.

"dealing with angry customers"

The best way to deal with an angry customer is to assure him of a solution to whatever he or she is complaining about. Do not say you will coordinate his problem with another department. He will only take it as your way of cutting your conversation short. Tell your customer that you will call him or her back for updates, instead of him or her being the one to call on you again to follow up. There's nothing more infuriating than when they learn they need to make the phone call again -- and then explain the problem all over again when it's a different agent who answers their second, third, or fourth call.
