Blog post: Is Customer Service getting better or worse?

Thank author of this post/commentI find myself constantly surprised when I experience great customer service (it shouldnt be that rare) . And also just as surprised that more business dont place a higher value on satisfying their customers through exceptional service.

Thank author of this post/comment"Backdoor Customer Service"

I find calling (or emailing) the customer service contact usually gets one no where... ie: more frustration.

I find that using "backdoor customer service", ie: finding the name and email (or fax) of the CEO and sending a letter results in excellent customer service. By going through the back door, the company finds someone that is capable of resolving the problem.

It is stupid the companies don't offer the same level of service for those contacting customer service through the front door!

I believe that poor customer service on average is reflective of a culture that is become less personal and that is also losing its morals on the large scale. What can you expect, after all. Not much of our education is focused on good morals, and neither is much of our input focusing on that either. How can you expect ordinary human beings to behave nicely if they are rarely taught to do so?

Casey, it is easy to find out. because you can compare the customer service culture to the generell national culture. for example between east europe or asia. their are big differences. so i think, that the generel culture has a huge impact!
