| Questions: Why does my bank tell me that a basic account is no good? I don't want a current account and I'm happy with the account I have with them that doesn't haven't an overdraft and doesn't have fees because that's how I like it. I've twiced been asked to upgrade to a so called better account but how is it better? surely a bank account is simply just a bank account? my own does everything I need from it and I wish they would stop asking me to upgrade or saying that I'm not allowing them to provide me with an exclusive service because they should treat all their customers the same I think. |
| In actual sense I think a current account is better for you. In the account you are using, your money may be tied for a specific period unlike in the current account where you can get your money when you want it. Think of an emergency this may help. You may be thinking that you are gaining from the interest rates you are getting now but they may lowered down to almost nil if you don’t have fixed interest rates. And again if you have fixed rates, you may be getting low interest when the basic rates are high. Think of the need of money in emergency cases, don’t you think overdrafts can help? |
| As a customer, you have your own choice to avail the right account you think is suited for you. Well I think they may just open for giving suggestions to you and that I just part of your job. If you want to stay with you account and disregard an upgrade, let it be. You can probably ask further questions about the coverage of their offer so that you will also know it. |
| I don't think it's right to say that your basic bank account is no good because it serves your own purpose and you're quite satisfied with it. The bank's customer service probably wants you to upgrade your account so you'll get higher interest for your it. Basic accounts usually have very little interest, if it has any at all. But if you will upgrade your account, you'll be able to get more for your money. |
| For me, any account may it be basic or upgraded is beneficial for the people. The most important thing is that your savings are secured. If you're already satisfied with your basic account, then stay as it is. But if you want to gain more interest and other added benefits, then go upgrade your account. Don't just get irritated with the customer service because they're just doing their job. Besides, it will just ruin your day. |
| Hi there! Thanks for asking that question I think as a costumer, you should know the things to be done in the bank. Is that legal? If the bank is requiring you to do that, maybe you should ask for more info about that matter. There are banks that are not that trusting in the businesses proposal they are up to.
