Can this company do this? Is it illegal?

Thank author of this post/commentOkay, I applied for this job called NEWcorp, its with directv and its a work at home, and they called me and went through all the interview processes and everything. I received an email on August 26th that said I had been selected for the job and I needed to get all of the equipment, and I start training on October 4, 2010, well I got the computer and just about everything required for the job, and I receive an email in my spam (they've never sent me anything in my spam folder) Saying I had not been selected for the job....Sooo I call the customer service center, and a girl tells me the 1st email saying I HAD the job was an ERROR. But my name was on it and everything!! So I email my supervisor and explained everything to her, and she says that shes called my phone with no luck and she doesnt even leave a voicemail!!! Can they do this? Is this legal? Im sooooooo confused!!!

No, this does not sound right. And you went out and bought all the equipment you needed to do the job ?

Get back to them again, ask for the Human Resources department, get an appointment, go and see them.

There must be a better explanation for this strange outcome.

You seemed to have a terrible experience thinking to have a new job. I think you can file a complaint if you still have the contact with the company. They have dropped their words and you have provided yourself with all those equipments. That is too bad on your side. It is just so unfair that they required you to provide yourself a computer and yet they didn't confirm to hire you. There must be a revision in the process of hiring under that particular company.

I can't say that it's illegal because you don't have a contract with them yet. But morally, this is not right. If they are like that, you can just imagine how they treat their current employees. Maybe you're better off in another company. It's frustrating but I suggest that you move on. There are other companies who know how to treat applicants with respect. These are the companies that you should look for.

Hi there!

I think, it is really a devastating scene you had. I really feel pity on you. I think , there are some people that have been making fun of you. Well, it is just my opinion. I am really sad to hear that. I think, you can call a police assistance for that matter.

Thanks you so much to all of you guys and have a great day to all!

Thank author of this post/comment"Get on with your life!"

Get over it. Get on with your life!

Do you really want to work for a place that treats people that way?
